Alouettes get past Eskimos to Play and Host 96e Grey Cup

Facing the Eskimos last Saturday, Montreal started with an early turnover on a punt attempt which led directly to a touchdown for the Eskimos. The night already seemed foggy for the Alouettes. But with a stadium almost at full capacity and fans on their back, the Montreal Alouettes found hope in one player, Larry Taylor. After Richardson touchdown to put the score to 13-12 for the opponent, Montreal get a punt return touchdown to give them the lead just before the half. A 62 yds punt return Touchdown. The crowd was crazy. But that was not the one and only touchdown for Larry Taylor. Another punt return touchdown by #25 but this time it was 97 yds!!! Alouettes where on fire. Beginning of the fourth Montreal Alouettes was on top of the Game with 36-13 lead.

But Eskimos decided it wasn’t over yet. Rick Ray made Eskimos heart run again after a touchdown pass of 55 yds to Kelly Campbell to reduce the score to 36-20. Then with a minute left on the clock and the Als punting, Eskimos Kick returner wanted to shine also with a punt return touchdown of 76 yds!!! Missing the following extra point with an attempt of 2 points, Eskimos are left on the ground as Alouettes defeat them 36-26. As i always say, It was too little to late.

Montreal is the East Division Champions and will face the Calgary Stampeders Next week in Montreal to hopefully be named 2008 CFL Champions and take over the Grey cup in Montreal.

Montreal faced Calgary 2 times this season and lost at both encounters. But now it’s different, Now it’s in Montreal, for the Grey cup finals and now all CFL fans will be presents as the thirteen man to push Montreal over Calgary.

It’s Going to be a promising final this Sunday, i hope you have your tickets ready.

Also  known as Big Mike, Michel Lapointe was arrested couple of years ago and was set to serve a 5 years sentence. Weighing around 450-pound (205 kg) this drug gang member was liberated from prison because he was too large for his cell.

the Journal de Montreal reported that he could not fit on the chair in his Montreal prison cell and when he went to bed, his body protruded six inches (15 cm) on either side.

“I’m going to have a proper bed and finally have a chair I can sit in,” he told the Paper outside the prison.

Do you think they should have a double standard? What about the too skinny people, or others with some physical abnormalities.

Habs Come back brilliantly after Saturday loss

After facing a devastating 6-3 loss in front of the Maple Leafs Last Saturday, The Habs showed a marvelous game by shutting down the Senators 4-0. A beautiful way of pumping montreal fans. And what a game it was. A hat trick for #21 Christopher Higgins, 1 Goal for #84 Guillaume Latendresse and not to forget the first shutout of the season for Carey Price, one that he absolutely deserve with 31 saves during that night.

As the Habs started the first 2 period ferociously forcing a lead of 3-0, they as always let go at the beginning of the third giving lots of GOOD opportunities for the Sens but Price was there to secure the Shutout and made some superb save that made senators chances of scoring impossibles.

Higgins showed real skills tonight by scoring 3 goals, 1 Short handed Goal and 1 Breakaway. Higgins commented:

The Hat trick is for my mom. I give a lot of credits to my dad…

After having Kostopoulos suspended for three games after the hit from behind that happened last Saturday against Toronto, Montreal keep on going foward and aiming at the top of the Standings and maybe a 25th Stanley Cup? Well it’s too early to be hoping for that so we’re going to focus of Montreal next game tomorrow night at Boston. A rivalry game as Montreal won already once this season by the score of 4-3 for the 100th season opening game at home.

Obama 2008 victory

Obama 2008 victory

Montreal Bloggers would like to congratulate Barack Obama for a great victory against republican John McCain. This victory means America has spoken and they want to take the country into a new direction. This young charismatic and inexperienced politician raised and unprecedented amount of money to run of the best campaigns in the history to pull a landslide victory.

With the democrats now controlling the presidency, the house, and the senate, the balance of power has shifted. This is one of a lifetime opportunity for the democratic party to pursuit their initiatives and agenda.

“We may not get there in one year or even in one term,” Obama said. “But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there.”

With the economy is shatters, an unfinished war, and America’s damaged image around the world, will this new young politician walk the walk?

The “Festival du Monde Arabe”

Arab World Festival

Arab World Festival

Some friends and I received invitations to the Arab World festival. So there we were, in the Medley corner St-Denis and RenĂ© Levesque, waiting for the show to start. The room was filled with all kind of people… Arabic… Non Arabic… Politicians…Artists and mostly anonymous people such as we were. Then the magic occurred. Out of nowhere the the music started and the spotlights revealed the Spanish guitars and the flamenco dancer. Spinning and stepping to the Andalusian rhythm, she captivated our senses and the room was breathing in time with the pace of her movements. Then came and went the heirs of the Andalusian Arabic world… Songs, dances and such atmosphere transporting the audience five centuries ago in the green plains of southern Spain. The “Festival du Monde Arabe”, a small window on a huge universe that has so much to offer and more…

The show goes on until november 6th.

Montreal Habs vs. New York Islanders

Kovalev and Plekanec save the night!

Tonight i didnt have the chance to watch the game completly but i was able to tune in at the 3rd period. What a surprise to see my team down 4-1. I was looking at the reviews and i was utterly shocked by the perfomance by the habs, so shocked by the mistake they made that i was thinking … it might be done for them tonight. As the third period started and Habs gaining 2 PP that didnt produce anything… I started to face reality.

But a miracle just appeared under the name of Plekanec. Wow is the only thing i can say. From one lucky goal to a marvelous skillfull goal, the score was now 4-3 Islanders. Then Latendresse with a nice feint to Higgins to tie the game. 4-4 with 5:54 to go my blood was boiling. I was yelling: “ we at least getting 1 point out of this game”. I was wrong again.

Canadiens were hungry… hungry for more. Not less then 1:30 Kovalev shows why his name is so popular. 5-4 Habs. Tough the game was so hot on the third period, the Hab shouldnt have to play that kind of game against the last of the league. My point of you is that match was a eye candy for real hockey amateur.

Montreal Alouettes On their way to the Grey Cup

Marcus Brady As Starting QB!
Brady Who ??

The Montreal Alouettes will face the Edmonton Eskimos this Friday in Montreal. The Alouettes who are the top the Eastern Division with 22pts (11-6-0) will be looking to end their season on a high note against the Eskimos, last of the West Division with 18pts (9-8-0).

In spite of being last in the West, the Eskimos present a big challenge  since they always play tough against the Alouettes. Surprisingly, Montreal has decided to start Marcus Brady (29 years old, 5′11”, 192lbs )  who has 0 attempts,   0 yards on passing and 4yds rushing this year. Marcus was acquired march 2006.

I think the whole idea on the decision to start brady is to get calvillo some rest for the postseason and not risk him getting injured. This will also be a good test for Marcus Brady readiness in case something were to happen to  Calvillo during the playoffs. Do you think this is a wise decision by Montreal?

“I told him I wanted to play, but I had no problem sitting down,”said Calvillo.

After this game, The Montreal will have a 15 days hiatus. When they return, they will face a barrage of teams all fighting to cross that goal line and win the Grey cup championship.

The bets are open … what are your predictions for the playoffs? … who will make it to the Grey Cup final?

Who will Win the Grey Cup This Year

A white night in October

Montreal first snow Oct. 28 2008

Last night, October 28th 2008 Montreal experienced its first night of snow. It’s not that i don’t like winter … but, wow!! First Snow in October? As i woke up in the middle of the night and saw my car and my driveway covered in white … in my head something came up :” This gonna be a cold and snowy winter this year “. Luckily, as the government stated that between December 15th to March all cars should be equipped with winter tires, I put on brand new ones last week .

Since snow decided to show itself  a month and a half before the law enforcement …. what will happen to those who didn’t get the chance to install their tires yet? Will the government reschedule the law for an earlier date? I’m just wondering .. since all-seasons tires looks almost like winter tires … how will the cops be able to determine which is which? Will they be waiting for when you’re at a light or at a stop to check real quick? Will they pull you over and verify has they hold their gun in their thruster ?? Will they hold blockades to verify your tires type ?? Will the police force be able to surprise me with a great idea??

As i was reading the information from the government website something shock me:

Question:Are vehicles from outside of Québec affected by this measure?

No, with the exception of certain rental vehicles. The legislative provision applies to vehicles (taxis and passenger vehicles) registered in Québec, as well as to passenger vehicles that are rented in Québec (regardless of where they are registered).

From my point of view this is ridiculous. That also means that if you’re a resident of Quebec and have a license plate from Ottawa (which is easy to do) you are not affected by this law.  Some people will take advantage of this situation.
